Lotta Wennäkoski's ír was written for the semi-finals of the Maj Lind piano competition in 2007.
The composer tells: "Over the years my music has been described as lyrical, poetic. This time I wanted to spread my wings and try a different genre: What kind of prose could I compose? What about drama? The ten-minute Ír has three parts, based on different forms of writing: Drama, Poem and Prose. I was looking for a main title that would relate to writing, and the most beautiful word I found was in Hungarian. Ír is both the infinitive and the third person singular form of the verb “write”.”
