"What is learnt by using different senses will have the longest lasting effect." This idea is central in Arja Suorsa-Rannanmäki's completely renewed Colour Keys piano school. This colourful, inspiring and modern piano method is a result of long pedagogical work and research done at the Sibelius Academy. It is suitable for even the youngest players and can be used in both private and group lessons.
In Book C, the do clef is left out and only the treble and the bass clef will be used. New concepts include key signatures and scales. Playing the repertoire in this book will require more advanced technique and pedaling. The pieces are composed in a number of different keys and modes, and they include a great variety of characters and tempi.
Additional supporting materials include:
- a coloured slip that is placed behind the keys to help identify the different octave ranges
- a transparent and movable transposing slip that is placed on top of the coloured slip and works in all keys
- transforming slips that can be used to vary the pieces
A separate teacher's guide offers pedagogical information about the teaching material as well as lyrics to the songs.
