Die Blume is a poetic and sensual vocalise in one movement with percussion accompaniment (one player). The vocal part, though fully notated, is improvisatory in character and takes in whispering, bocca chiusa, noise and a variety of phonetic sounds. The percussion supports and occasionally "envelops" the singer with a wealth of imitation and dialogue.
