Osmo Tapio Räihälä composed his solo guitar work Dorean Dumble Dorean on commission from the guitar virtuoso Jyrki Myllärinen. Its subtitle, Triptych, is essential to the overall form of the piece: it is divided into three sections, with the outer movements featuring lively, rhythmically driven music. In the central movement, the guitar is also played on the fingerboard between the touch points and the nut. These thin, sharp sounds give this slow section a timbral profile that moves away from the traditional guitar sound.
