Description
Three songs to texts by Aleksis Kivi (Finnish/English) for mixed chorus (1. Ikävyys / Melancholy, 2. Laulu oravasta / The Squirrel, 3. Sydämeni laulu / Song of My Heart). These lyrical songs are already familiar from his opera Aleksis Kivi (1995-96) and have acquired a life of their own as independent works for voices and orchestra. These a cappella arrangements by Rautavaara were premiered in Minnesota, USA in March 1999.
