Downloadable and printable PDF edition. Kalevi Aho composed Le Tombeau de J. K. in memory of Jaakko Kuusisto, who died on February 23, 2022. "Jaakko and I had quite a partnership over the years - he recorded most of my violin works and conducted many of my compositions. I was deeply touched by his illness and untimely death and decided there and then to write a little piece for violin and piano in his memory. The initial motif of this elegiac piece is later repeated twice, each time a minor second lower than before, until at the end the music rises to the violin's extreme, weightless heights."
