Tapio Tuomela's (b. 1958) Pace for mixed choir (SSAATTBB, 2025) is an appeal for peace, inspired by the enigmatic opening of Carlo Gesualdo's madrigal "Moro, lasso" (1611). A fragment of the Gospel of John is heard recited in the local language of the performance: "Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you [...]" Rhythmically accelerating chromatic outbreaks culminate the work.
