Sigma for solo trombone was written in 1998. Composer tells that inspiration behind the name is from the way trombone's slide moves during playing. The musical material is related to orchestral work ”Le città invisibili” (Invisible Cities, 1998) by Nieminen. The work was written for trombone player Matti ”Korkki” Korhonen.
Pasuunasoolo Sigma on sävelletty vuonna 1998. Säveltäjä kertoo teoksen nimen johtuvan pasuunan luistin liikkeestä. Teoksen materiaali on sukua Niemisen orkesteriteokselle Le città invisibili (Näkymättömät kaupungit, 1998). Teos on sävelletty pasunisti Matti ”Korkki” Korhoselle.
