Description
Kalevi Aho has continued composing his popular Solo pieces for different instruments. Solo XVI (Ballade) for harp (2019) was premiered in June 2019 by Anneleen Lenaerts in Forssa, Finland at the Musica Kalevi Aho Festival.
The ten-minute Solo XVI begins with a dramatic glissando descending right across the harp from top to bottom, but from then onwards it becomes more lyrical. As the subtitle indicates, Solo XVI can be imagined as a fairytale musical story, a Ballade, at times lyrical but at others highly dramatic.

Kalevi Ahon Solo-sarja eri instrumenteille laajentui vuonna 2019 syntyneellä sooloteoksella harpulle. Anneleen Lenaerts kantaesitti teoksen Musica Kalevi Aho -festivaalilla Forssassa kesäkuussa 2019. Teoksen kesto on noin 10 minuuttia.
