Outi Tarkiainen's wind quintet The Way There... (Is Sand or Some Other Sounding Substance, 2009) consists of four miniature movements, each featuring a different instrument in a leading role. The whirring first and last movements frame the lyrical second movement and the undulating third. The title of the work originates in Finnish poet Sirkka Turkka's melancholy yet hopeful poem Tämä surumieli (This Sorrowing Mind), from the anthology Vaikka on kesä (Though It's Summer, 1983).
