Lars Karlsson composed these two songs to the text of a Swedish poet Gustav Fröding. The pieces were commissioned by Florakören and conductor Gottfried Gräsbeck in 1987. These short songs have a feeling of folk music with brisk melodies and refined text. Äktenskapsfrågan studies the problems of the every day life of a couple in a humoristic way. Kung Liljekonvalje is a swinging elegy with the text which describes the fairytale of the lilies of the valley deep in the forest.
