Juhani Nuorvala composed Twitching Gait in 1993 when he was studying in New York under David Del Trecidi. In this work Nuorvala was looking for a milieu symphatetic to the musical values he had already begun to adopt in his work: strong rhythms, melodies and unacademic ways.
