Description
Repertoire for cello from English-speaking countries by Maryan Balkwill is a series of repertoire of well-known songs, divided in four two-part volumes: songs without a stave, pentatonic songs, children's songs and easy diatonic songs. They follow the principles of the Colourstrings method and can be fully used without any previous knowledge of the method.
Songs without a stave: Book A includes 21 songs set for beginners. Introducing one interval at a time, a carefully chosen set of folk songs and other familiar melodies from English-speaking countries utilize the visual presentation and colours developed by Géza and Csaba Szilvay. The innovative use of left-hand "numbered pizzicato" prepares all fingers for stopping motion, and the use of natural harmonics teaches the left hand an optimal, relaxed position from the very beginning.
